How does the NBI work?

The NBI Assessment is a 30-question diagnostic survey that indicates your thinking preferences. Each question has 4 options which need to be ranked in order of your thinking preference.

What is the process for completing a brain profile?

Your practitioner will do a pre-profile consultation to get to know you better and to understand your needs and expectations of the profile. You will then be emailed a link whichl allows you access to the NBI profile selected. (For young children, the profiler will assist with the completion of the assessment) Once the questionnaire is complete, the profile results will be emailed to your Brain Profile Practitioner, who will analyse the results and create a written report with insight and recommendations.

How much does it cost?

Different needs require different NBI profiles. You may want to do a family of adults and children including the NBI parenting style profile. Or you may want to complete an adult profile with a supplementary NBI Relationships or NBI Spirituality profile. Each profile set is different. It is best to contact us to find out more about our packages

How is the NBI Brain Profile different from traditional psychometric testing?

Unlike traditional psychometric tests that focus on measuring fixed traits like intelligence or personality, the NBI® is rooted in didactic principles—the science of learning. It’s not just about assessment, but about developing thinking skills. The NBI helps individuals understand their whole brain thinking preferences and apply this knowledge to grow beyond their comfort zones. The ultimate goal is to support both children and adults in becoming more adaptable, creative, and effective in learning, work, and relationships.

How was the NBI assessment tool developed?

After nearly 30 years of extensive international research into left and right brain functions, Dr. Kobus Neethling developed the NBI® Adult Profile under the research guidance of Dr. Paul Torrance at the University of Georgia, USA. Since then, the NBI® has grown to include a wide range of whole brain instruments designed for children, students, educators, athletes, and professionals in the business world.
